Dunsmuir Way | Award-Winning Transitional Mountain Home

Martis Camp, Truckee, California

Dunsmuir Way is an award-winning transitional mountain residence in Martis Camp, Truckee, California, designed by Emily Roose Interiors as a full-service interior design project. Recognized internationally for luxury residential interiors, the home blends mountain warmth with refined sophistication—created for family living and effortless entertaining in the Lake Tahoe region.

The design layers a mountain transitional foundation with farmhouse influences inspired by Napa Valley alongside subtle coastal references reflecting the family’s connection to Florida. Rich textures, natural materials, and carefully considered detailing create interiors that feel inviting, timeless, and deeply connected to place.

At the center of the home is a chef’s kitchen anchored by a 10-foot Calacatta marble island, complemented by custom cabinetry and black leathered honed granite countertops that extend seamlessly to the outdoor BBQ area. A handmade glass tile backsplash, two-column wine refrigerator, built-in display cabinetry, and bespoke dining table support a home designed equally for gathering and everyday living.

Sustainability is integrated throughout the residence with eco-conscious materials, low- to no-VOC finishes, energy-efficient lighting, and carefully selected fixtures. Artisan-crafted details—including three custom stick-sphere pendants—introduce warmth and an organic character that reflects the surrounding Tahoe landscape.

Dunsmuir Way reflects Emily Roose Interiors’ approach to luxury residential design—where material integrity, livability, and a strong sense of place come together to create homes that feel enduring, immersive, and personal.
