Tahoma Retreat | New Construction Vacation Home Near Lake Tahoe
Tahoma, CA
Tahoma Retreat is a custom new construction vacation home in Tahoma, California, designed by Emily Roose Interiors as a full-service interior design project. Located just steps from the shores of Lake Tahoe, the residence blends contemporary design with the timeless character of mountain and lake living—creating a home deeply connected to its natural surroundings.
Set beneath a canopy of pine trees, the four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath residence was designed to support both quiet retreat and relaxed entertaining. Expansive windows frame mountain views while strengthening the relationship between indoor and outdoor living, bringing natural light and landscape into every space.
At the center of the home, the kitchen was designed as a gathering space, featuring blue cabinetry inspired by the tones of Lake Tahoe, natural stone countertops, and panoramic windows that anchor the room within its setting. Throughout the residence, the palette reflects the surrounding environment—organic, restrained, and grounded in place.
In the primary bathroom, a Japandi-inspired approach introduces a serene spa-like retreat influenced by Japanese bathing rituals, balancing warmth, simplicity, and comfort through carefully layered materials and minimal detailing.
Guest spaces continue the narrative through natural textures and contemporary finishes that reinterpret the classic Tahoe cabin aesthetic with a more modern perspective.
Thoughtful details supporting an active mountain lifestyle—including a custom dog shower integrated into the laundry room—add functionality while maintaining the relaxed character of the home. Wood ceilings throughout the main living spaces reinforce a sense of warmth and authenticity across the residence.
Tahoma Retreat reflects Emily Roose Interiors’ approach to residential design—where natural materials, thoughtful planning, and a strong connection to place come together to create homes that feel immersive, welcoming, and deeply livable.
