Tahoe Donner Primary Bathroom Remodel | Organic Modern Spa-Inspired Renovation

Truckee, CA

This primary bathroom renovation in the Tahoe Donner community of Truckee, California, was designed by Emily Roose Interiors as a full-service remodel—transforming a dark, enclosed space into a light-filled spa-inspired retreat centered around improved flow and everyday functionality.

The redesign focused on opening the layout to enhance natural light and visual movement, removing one wall and partially opening another to create a more expansive, airy environment while maintaining privacy where needed. The result is a bathroom that feels calm, connected, and significantly more open to the surrounding home.

An organic modern design approach introduces warmth and restraint throughout the space. A custom floating walnut vanity anchors the room, while hand-blown glass pendants add sculptural presence above the countertop. Layered lighting, including recessed fixtures, enhances brightness and creates a soft, restorative atmosphere.

The walk-in shower serves as the focal point of the renovation, designed for both comfort and performance. A multi-function water-efficient system, suspended floating bench, and integrated niche create a streamlined experience that balances practicality with spa-inspired detailing. Green glass subway tile introduces a subtle biophilic influence, complemented by marble-look flooring selected for both durability and timeless appeal.

The result is a serene, highly functional retreat that reflects Emily Roose Interiors’ approach to renovation design through thoughtful spatial planning, material integrity, and wellness-focused living.
