Tahoe Donner Home Office Remodel | Sustainable Wellness-Focused Workspace (Truckee, CA)

Located in the mountain community of Tahoe Donner in Truckee, California, this home office remodel transformed an underutilized guest room into a dedicated workspace centered on sustainability, wellness, and vibrant design. Materials and fixtures were thoughtfully selected to support a healthier indoor environment and reduce environmental impact, including energy-efficient LED lighting and low-to-no VOC finishes to improve indoor air quality.

A bold dark blue wallcovering made from 100% sustainable cork brings rich color and texture while improving acoustics and adding warmth during snowy Tahoe winters. Custom cabinetry and the office chair were crafted from FSC-certified woods, supporting responsible forestry and reinforcing the project’s eco-conscious foundation.

Functionality is seamlessly integrated throughout the space. Custom cabinetry with adjustable interiors, filing drawers, and a full-length cord management system along the back of the desk keeps the workspace organized and efficient. A printer is concealed behind a custom door on a roll-out shelf, maintaining a clean, streamlined look.

Ergonomics and comfort were prioritized with a sit-to-stand desk, while colorful custom Roman shades add personality and allow precise control of natural light. Finishing details include a decorative bamboo plywood pendant by David Trubridge and eco-conscious task lighting from Cerno Lighting—blending artistry, performance, and sustainability in a cheerful, health-forward office designed for productivity.
