Tahoe Donner Home Office Remodel | Sustainable Wellness-Focused Workspace

Truckee, CA

This home office renovation in the Tahoe Donner community of Truckee, California, was designed by Emily Roose Interiors as a full-service remodel—transforming an underutilized guest room into a dedicated workspace centered around sustainability, wellness, and everyday functionality.

Material and lighting selections were carefully considered to support a healthier indoor environment, incorporating low- to no-VOC finishes and energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the space. A dark blue cork wallcovering introduces warmth, texture, and acoustic comfort while creating an environment that feels grounded and inviting during Tahoe’s winter months.

Custom cabinetry and furnishings crafted from FSC-certified wood bring organization and refined functionality to the office. Adjustable interiors, integrated filing systems, concealed storage, and a hidden printer on a roll-out shelf allow the workspace to remain visually clean while supporting everyday efficiency.

Ergonomics and flexibility were central to the design, with a sit-to-stand desk supporting comfort throughout the workday. Custom Roman shades provide control over natural light, while sculptural lighting—including a bamboo pendant by David Trubridge and task lighting by Cerno Lighting—adds both artistry and performance to the space.

The result is a wellness-forward workspace that reflects Emily Roose Interiors’ approach to sustainable design—where healthy materials, thoughtful planning, and elevated functionality come together to support how a space is truly lived in and used every day.
