Lahontan Kitchen Remodel | Family-Friendly Kitchen Renovation
Truckee, CA
This kitchen renovation in the gated Lahontan community of Truckee, California, was designed by Emily Roose Interiors as a full-service remodel for an active family of five. The project focused on improving functionality, strengthening visual flow, and creating a lighter, more connected environment for everyday living and entertaining.
A defining design move was lowering the existing bar counter to standard height—opening the kitchen to the adjacent living area and restoring uninterrupted views to the surrounding landscape. The updated layout creates a stronger relationship between spaces while enhancing both daily functionality and natural light throughout the home.
Material selections introduce a refined modern farmhouse sensibility, layering marble hexagon tile, updated countertops, and geometric pendant lighting with timeless architectural details. Existing cabinetry was thoughtfully reimagined in a deep blue finish, while the island was refinished in a softly glazed white that adds warmth and balance to the space.
The result is a kitchen that feels cohesive, welcoming, and highly livable—reflecting Emily Roose Interiors’ approach to renovation design through thoughtful spatial planning, material integrity, and everyday functionality.
